Diamond Goby Question.

Mine had quite a few homes throughout the tank and always starts covering up the entrance of the one he will sleep in before lights out. When the lights go out POOF! he shoots though the sand into his den, lol!!!
I don't know what the red thing is, might be lipstick :what:

Agreed. Ours likes to get a mouthful of sand and swim up and dump sand like confetti all over the place. And he welcomes any new coral to my tank by spitting sand all over it. Lol.

let him do hiss thing he is helping to clean up your sand in the long run. All mine eat everything that goes in the tank and I never see them stop sifting. Throw all types of food at them, soak your pellets in selcon if your worried. I make my own food but feed frozen prepped food too and they love it all. Today, one of my diamond gobies even stole a piece of a silverside from my puffer but he eventually gave it up.
I feed less more often and my fish seem very happy and healthy.

And that's cyanobacteria, not algae. And it's not there because you don't have a sand sifter. It's there because of any number of husbandry and equipment issues.
I wouldn't be so harsh if this was a knitting forum. These are living creatures and this hobby demands some level of thoughtfulness to be ethical. Take the fish back and try to be more logical in your future stocking choices. :thumbsup:

Oh trust me I knew that the goby wasn't going to eat the algae I just knew that it was going to mix it up. And it doesn't sift sand as much anymore. I currently know that they usually starve to death and I do admit I didn't know that much about him but now I'm very happ to have him/her. It has made my sand look so much better not clean but better and trust me I have a lot of experience with freshwater saltwater fish only being 13. I have raised both since I was 6. And I will continue raising fish throug out my life only getting more knowledgeable. And to make sure it doesn't starve I have been feeding it half a cube of mysis each day with my clownfish. And the the petstore I got it from had 8 of them and 5 of them were DEAD so maby I did do the write thing. And I know more than you think.

What on earth are you Guy's talking about, Diamond Goby's do not usually starve to death, they eat prepared foods willingly. I think you have them confused with a mandarin or something else.

One more question: if some diamond Gobies don't eat prepared food, then what do they eat that's in the sand?

seems like things are going ok with the fish. its good you came on here trying to learn what's needed. just come on here and research beforehand, you may come across many impulse buying situations during your involvement in this hobby( not sure if this one was) but refrain from making any decisions before checking here.. unfortunately, not all LFS know about the care of all fish they sell.

I would be very surprised if your goby doesn't eat prepared foods. You've had he/she for a few days now, so you what's the verdict?

I thought you were a diamond goby expert. If you don't know what they eat in the sand, you should not be participating in this debate and acting like some kind of authority.
