i have had several over the years. i just resently bought a new one becouse the last one went carpet surfing. i sealed up the whole tank this time no where can he escape. the problem is this one went right into the rock work and has only been seen once at night and he hasnt sifted any sand or come out fo the rocks i dont even know if its still alive have anyone else had this problem. this is the first out of a few that have ever done this.

Is it a diamond sleeper goby or a yellow watchman goby or something else?

I'm picturing at least 2 or 3 different fishes. If its a YMG, yes, I've had em hide. If its a DSG, personally havent had one do it for more than a day or two.

Got an image of which guy we're talking about?

I have two, both started sifting sand within minutes. It is not uncommon for fish to hide for several days when introduced to a tank. I would not worry until a week goes by.

its a diamond watchman goby white with the orange diamond dots. yeah im just worried becouse all the others ones ive had were active right from the start

I had a pair of Valenciennea puellaris (Diamond Goby) that went right to work within 15 minutes of introduction to the tank. They frequently hid in the rock work while people were moving around the tank but once they felt secure they'd go right back to sifting. Give it a day or two before getting too concerned, especially if it has some more aggressive tank mates.

yeah everyone i had before went straigh to work and never stopped now this one just doesnt do a thing and can never find him i dont even know if hes still alive

tank mates are yellow tang six line two clowns and three domino damsels very small introduced same time as goby my six line is a terror sometimes but i havnt seen any agression towards any of the gobies just one of the clowns he picks on like crazy
