These snails are so cool. He practically bulldozed my Staghorn hermit as he went by. I dropped a little flake food in the tank for the snails last night and something pretty hysterical took place. The little staghorn hermit grabbed a decently sized piece of flake and started chowin down...well one of the Distortus smelled this and started chasin the crab around..lol...the crab would keep hoppin away in a defensive position on its hind quarters..
My girlfriend and I watched the tank intently, and she pointed out another cool little scene...another piece of flake had been caught on some wafer algae where two Nassarius Vibex and a brittle star made a quick meal...unfortunately, I couldn't get a clear shot...
Apparently, JP gave me a mated pair of Distortus because the "male" was definately trying to spawn with the female. The funny thing was he constantly chased, but she constantly ran away...I guess she wasn't quite in the mood...
We should have thrown on some Kenny G or Barry White! :smokin:
A special thanks goes out to JP over at www.justphish.com for picking out some incredible livestock for me. The two ORA Maximas I received from him are fantastic.
They're good shots John...1-10, I'd say 7.4. The closeup ones are pretty blurry; are you sure you have it on macro? Also, they are dark, at least on my monitor. Maybe my brightness is too low.
Hm, they don't look like Macro shots IMO. Try getting close (i.e up to the glass), and playing with the zoom to try to get those crisp shots. My best macro shots were up against the glass.
To be honest, I seem to only get good photos using the super macro mode... Though with the super macro you cannot use the zoom. I suggest using a tripod and the timer function to eliminate as much movement as possible.
Everyone is right about the white balance and flash issue....everytime I try to take a picture of my encrusting monti it gets washed out...time to really play with the settings..
Here's a quick update...my Crocea looks spectacular...no more problems with the mantle extension..
My baby Maxi wants to be moved...getting a new spot the moment I have a chance...
