Diatom Filter Disassembly?

Anyone know how the impeller is connected to it or more importantly how to get it off. My seal went between the motor and the plastic housing :( Thanks for the help :)

Noone bother to answer that-- In theory it screws off only problem is the shaft snapped while i was trying to unscrew it. Its a reverse thread which i knew but it was rusted onto the shaft solid. I now have a paper weight...........

Much less a triple digit one......... Its actually cheaper to buy a new one than replace just the motor assembly on it from Vortex parts list. Im going to call the motor manufacturer Monday and see if they will sell me just the shaft.

I'm sure they'll give you the shaft ;)

Seinfeld has a bit on paperweights and why do these people work in such windy offices... or shouldn't they just close the window?

LOL No doubt ill be getting the "shaft" All this because i unclogged my closed loop and figured id vacuum out the detrius with the diatom. Thatll teach me to clean the tank :)

Chris,
I have the top part of a Diatom filter that you are welcome to. I have not used it in a very long time, and I'm sure it's all rusty and nasty by now. I doub't that I still have the hoses, or the jar, but the motor assembly should be around. Knowing how much you love to keep multiple units for spare parts, I figure this is right up your alley.

Larry all i need is the shaft that comes out from the motor. It sounds like you have what i need. I just got hom from the bar a litle while. Its been an interesting night.
Being i knwo you used to drive one ever get so drunk you needed someone else to drive you to a tow call? LMAO. A friend of mine is in his dlorty cause he got to drive a tow truck.........

I learned a LONG time ago that drinking and driving are two activities that need to be seperated.
Did you have someone else drive to a call, and you hooked the car???

Chris, I thought I was the only one left who uses a diatom. I went through 5 of them so far. Not really designed for salt water. I also have some parts left over. Put some silicone grease on that new impeller threads when you assemble it and as was said it is a reverse thread.
