Did I buy a Dead Zoo?

We bought a Zoanthid at the nsLFS... not so Local Fish Store.... and we couldn't decide on the color. So my Wife, as usual, went for the 'Charlie Brown' Zoo. She always picks the 'Little Cichlid' and the 'stupid' cat, and the 'Swimming in circles' Goldfish... Well, this one was closed up. It looked as healthy as the rest. And really was a big one in comparison... but it was closed. It is still closed 24 hours later...

Is there anything that can be done to see if it is still kickin?

you've got a couple of open polyps already. These may have been recent imports, you'll know when they are dead, as you will see them decaying (don't confuse this with sloughing of mucus). Give it a little time (1 week), I think you will be fine.

they look ok to me. Nothing to worry about

put them in great flow and let it ride. They should all show themselves in a day or two. they are just ****ed from the move

This is just a stadard, stock Zoo, I think.

This is my first... where should I have him placed in the tank? I have a 2 x 96 PC with actinic and 10k, and a non-overdriven double T5 with 18k... and do they like a lot of flow across them, or just moderate, or a little....

Standard fare here my friend, start them out low in the tank with good water movement and move up closer to the light in the coming weeks.

Cool, thanx.

I paid $24.99 for that cluster.... Thats high, right? That's the price the LFS has all of their Zoo's at. I might have to research who will ship up to Canada...

I agree, they look fine, but are just getting used to your tank. Think of it as the equivalent of a fish hiding for the first few days.

It's not necessarily a bad price. Our LFS charges $29.99 for something similar. Sure, you can get cheaper at frag swaps/club meetings or if there are a lot of LFS where you live, but not everyone has access to cheap corals.

Yeah, not a bad price at all. Price, IMO is really in the eye of the consumer. Whatever you are willing to pay for a piece is up to you - prices vary nation (and country, eh?) wide. It's hard to get a colony/large frag for less than $30 in my neck of the woods. In fact, I bought a colony about that size for $60 just last weekend!

I could see paying that for an LE... I assume that is Limited Edition... And I do like the fact that there is a pile of ... node thingies on it. And indeed... the Country, Eh. I am really shocked by the lack of... EVERYTHING marine in Canada. I really like the Zoos, and I thought I would try my hand at one, and see if I can handel it or not. I got quite a lot of flow, but modest lighting... I wont kid myself and think I can handle Clams, or PSPs....or sps, or whatever they are... but I am tryin.

It's in some flow now, and it seems to be reacting in a positive way.
