Did I get lucky?

So I read AFTER i had purchased my cleaner wrasse that is likely to eat off your fish for a while and then die because It will most likely starve. Just doesn't seem to be the case for my cleaner wrasse.

He eats everything from
Formula 1
Formula 2
Mysis Shrimp
Instant Ocean Marine Blend
Eats the Green Marine Algae with garlic along with the tangs (kind of funny)
Not to mention eats off my rock and off my fish

Did I get lucky? Does anybody else's cleaner wrasse eat like mine?

Yea you can get lucky like that.. I had a cleaner goby (neon) he cleaned my fish and ate myiss too.. he lived about 1 1/2.. Good luck with him

Sounds kinda normal ... I have had mine for 3 yrs. next month. He eats everything that hits the tank. Plus shares the nori with the tangs.. He's about 3 inches or so, glad he's adapted to the tank that well... Good luck

It's not a matter of them eating, It's a matter of them getting the necessary dietary needs from what they are eating. They have evolved eating a very specific diet and simply eating isnt the end of the battle. The same goes for fish such as the butterflyfish - yes it's eating like a pig but chances are it isnt getting bio-diverse rock to graze on which is how they feed in the wild.

Not trying to be a #$%@, they dont always die and I have no doubts in your abilities If a person on the forums has info, they share it. GL

There is a cleaner wrasse that hurt other fish. They may seem to be cleaning other fish but in fact, nipping their fins. They are the usual cheap blue and black. they eat almost anything. The useful cleaner wrasse (with yellowish color) will feed most exclusively on fish parasites.

I believe that's a mimic blenny that does that.

Mine also eats everything that I feed the fish, and also cleans the fish. I feed a varied diet to everything in the tank......
He's been with me for 7 months and is fat and happy.

I've got a Hawaiian Cleaner, I've tried just about everything from that list and he isn't touching it.
