Did I infect my tank with grape caulerpa?

I got some grape caulerpa and placed in the display tank for about 1 hour. Then I realized it wasn't a good idea and took it out.

Did I infect my tank with grape caulerpa and now I'll never get rid of it? How does it spread, if I removed all of it, am I safe or do they release spores instantly and infect everything?

If you got it all out you should be fine. If any of it was left, it will probably spread. Nasty stuff and a pain to get rid of for sure. I bought some rock a few years ago that had it on one and it spread through my aquarium like wild fire. Took a long time to get it all out and even ended up taking out some rock.

Being that you basically just gave the Caulerpa a one hour saltwater dip , I think you'll be ok as well.

There is a way to get it off a rock if it roots, but it's a little extreme. Ask me if you develop a problem, and if you see it ON a rock, move that rock away from any other.
