Did my BTA eat my ocellaris????

I had a pair of ocellaris clowns. A couple days ago, I bought a BTA. This afternoon, I noticed that the smaller clown was missing. I looked around for it, and I didn't find it. So I looked under all the rocks and rummaged through the sand bed. I still didn't find it. So I came to the very sad conclusion that my BTA ate it.:(:(:( Both clowns were doing great up to the point when I noticed one was missing. I don't know how much it had been at my LFS. Is it possible that my new BTA ate a clownfish?

First let's see if u have bta.
#2 check inside your overflow or around the tank if it has jumped [emoji123]🤺🤺

Yeah I'm not sure what draws you to that conclusion w/out seeing it or any evidence, like bones being spit out.

It is possible, but normally it would have been an already sick/weak clown, or possibly a clown forced or prodded in before adapting to sting cells.

Many times I've seen these types of posts to later find the dried remains, or in overflow, or a number of other things.

Doubtful a BTA would eat a healthy ocellaris. But yes, like Led said, photos to confirm it's a BTA would be good. I'd also suspect jumping or stuck in overflow.

I am certain that it is a BTA, because I can clearly see its bubble tips. Would it help the remaining clownfish if I bought her another ocellaris? Also it didn't jump and there is no overflow for it to be stuck in.

I don't think the nem itself is in question(unless it were a condy maybe) and I'll take OP's word for what his nem is just for sake of no argument, but I'm still not certain the nem ate the fish unless it was sick, and for that reason I would not rush into anything just yet.

Chill, let the existing clown be, take time finding a suitable replacement, intro properly in a floating breeder cup or similar, and really best of course is to QT new clown, or even both together, especially if you skipped that process.

Pics normally do help a lot if you can post any.

Here's a pic, sorry I know it's horrible quality

That nem doesn't look healthy enough to eat a healthy clownfish nor is it common at all for a nem to do this. Also do you have hermit crabs in your tank? Hermit crabs can do worm with a fish's body within hour(s). The body (or what's left of
It) could very well be under a rock. Also, if you have any house pets it's also a possibility that the fish jumped and your pet found it before you did.. the chances that the nem ate the CF is slim to none in my experience and opinion.

I just woke up, and I found that the water is really cloudy, there are big chunks of poop floating around, and there tiny bits of anemone tentacles on the sand. I am transferring my one clownfish to a bucket of clean saltwater. HELP!

Also there was a bunch of translucent white stuff that looked sadly like an anemone's foot stuck in the powerhead... -sigh-

Sorry to hear that the BTA wandered into a powerhead. Take the anemone out and do a 25% water change. Change your carbon. Keep doing regular water changes daily if you have to until your parameters are normal.
