did something stupid

If there is one thing, only one thing, i have learned in this hobby, it's patience.
Give the critter some time to adapt to "your" tank. That would be your flow, your lights, your water changes etc..
How would you feel, if every day you came home, someone had changed the environment in your house? Changed all the light bulbs, turned up the A/C, didn't offer anything for dinner tonight, yada, yada, yada....
You keep chopping and changing for changes sake, the critter never gets accustomed to a stable environment.
How about you write up a three week schedule, stick to it religously, and then see what the anenome looks like. Keep your feeding regular, your water changes regular (if at all), your flow constant etc etc...

As long as he's not turning to goo, you're on the right path.

its day 20 and i have to say im glad everything turned out great. this guy has been eating and pooping like a champ. when it was detached i got fed up with it and put him in this this spot and changed the flow and added a powerhead. he attached through the sand and onto a rock. he's still a small guy, about 4-5 inches. what do you guys think? im hoping he stays, but you never know.the new powerhead i added was an old maxijet with a hydor flo rotating device. he loves it. at night i shut it off to let things calm down and when actinics are back on i turn it on

i forgot to add that hes no longer deflating and inflating. he only deflates a little at night then opens back up once lights are on

congrats.

NOW you have to go patrol the posts of similar nature, and tell them to check their water params, quit poking him, feed small pieces, etc.

:)

Wow nice! It looks great! See... you did something good, not stupid. Don't consider trying to save something "stupid" you might succeed, just like this! (I am reffering to the title of the thread :D )

Hey thanks, timrandlerv10, Purple Penguins, and maxi!

when i saw him around the tank detached it would always seem like he was saying, "hey f*** you!! you suck!!!"

before i added the MJ with the hydor flo, i noticed he would go to the spot and turn around to face the light, but would end up tumbling out since he didnt like the original flow.. i ended up getting him and putting him there, let him turn around then i added the powerhead and he immediately buried in the sand and stayed. im guessing it really likes the way it pushes him around like a wave. i shut the extra powerhead off at night just to make things more realistic for it, it worked.

im going to try to save up some money and upgrade to a larger tank, in the meantime i also want to add some stuff like an overflow box and a sump just to add more stability to the chemistry in the water

does anyone know if itll darken up? right now its a purple and brown, what you see is very accurate to its color (at least on my monitor anyways). trying to feed him more often so itll be more comfortable knowing it has food in its new spot and getting him to be healthier

yes...i'm positive he got bleached, either before you got him or during the first few days...after a few weeks of good light and some feedings, he'll color up (i dont think the feedings add to the increase in zooxanthelae (sp?), but i think if he's healthy that helps the other biological systems...anyway, if i'm wrong, dont correct me, cause my nems are doing great, and i dont want that magic belief to disappear!!!).

a sump helps--the greater the volume the greater the stability. you can put a macro algae in the sump, run an off-cycle light and stabilize ph and remove po4 and nitrates all at the same time.

good luck!

do you know if its supposed to be a dark purple or light purple or if it just varies on the individual anemone? when it deflates a little for the night it turns into a purple like the second picture below, but i also see that theres a darker version? unless it just depends on the lighting
