An example of what not to do if you join chat looking for assistance...

Although we do enjoy the company and would love some conversation (reef keeping related or otherwise), we are not all sitting patiently waiting for you to join so we can help you. Some of us may be away from the keyboard (phone call or bathroom break come to mind?) or sitting in other channels besides #reefcentral and didn't notice you join. However, if you're patient enough, someone will eventually take notice and respond.
Speaking for myself, if you type out my nick (yes I go by minderasr in chat as well), my script notifies me and I'll be alerted to check a little more quickly.
So come on in and say hello. Ask your question if you have one. But hang in there. Hopefully we'll see you soon!

I swung by for a few... seemed as if all were afk.
You missed some lively discussion then. I bailed out ~11ish (eastern time).
That is what's known as a ghost. You probably timed out, you disconnected but the IRC server didn't notice. Usually after a short period of time the ghost disconnects (ping timeout). Just log back in under another nick. You can take your nick back after the ghost disconnects using the command /nick yournick.
