Diff sand

Has anyone here used different sand than Agronite????? If so what type did u use?

I've used only aragonite at this point, but people have run nice tanks with silica sand as well.

I'm running quikrete white play sand (which is silica sand) in a bucket DSB off my sump without issues--- I use aragonite 1-2mm grain size for the bottom of my display...

The dangers of using silica sand are generally exagerated--- what ever sand you use-- especially if getting play sand-- test it by dropping some in a cup of water and see how bad it clouds up and clears... I chose quickrete sand because it doesn't cloud up (is very clean)...

I used Pavestone Decoration / Playsand i liked the grain size and the white color. I should have cleaned it before i put it in the tank HOWEVER live and learn. I finally Put my LR in my tank and this will get the bacteria moving for me and have that sand stop flaring up
