Difference between old and new IceCap 250 ballast performance?

I just added a new style to the two old style 250W IceCap MH Ballasts. Should there be a difference in light output between the two? Is there a break in period for a ballast?

I also bought a new bulb, but swithed ballasts and bulbs...the ballast seems to be alittle brighter regardless of age of the bulbs....they're all XM20k's.

It may just be me, but I can't help notice the new ballast is running a little brighter?

If I remember correctly, the older version had some problems firing certain bulbs.
