I don't know about output or anyhting, but the number indicates the diameter of the bulb in 1/8th of an inch. So a T-8 bulb is 1" in diameter, a T-12 is one and a half inches, and a T-5 is 5/8".
The AquaTrader 36†39-watt and 48†54-watt T6 lamps are high output (T6HO) lamps. They should be roughly comparable to T5HO lamps in both size and output. My only reservation is that the fixtures do not have individual parabolic reflectors but the price is right.
