differnce between reidi and kuda?

how do u tell the differnce between reidi's and kuda's?
i got a seahorse and dont know what type it is. i think it is a reidi or a kuda.
i will try to get a pic of it.
are reidi's bigger than kuda's?

reidis are smaller than kuda's and usually a bit more colorful.

any seahorse is hard to breed. It takes a lot of time and effort. That being said, zostrae (dwarfs), and erectus are probably the easiest. Barbs and Kuda are just a touch harder, with reidi and ingens being the hardest.

To anwser the original question the best way to distingiush between kuda and reidi is by the coronet.

Size and color is not an issue. My reidi is bigger than any kuda I have seen.

Unless you are raising Erectus, if you feed them BBS, you'll end up losing 1/2 the fry in a few days time. You are better off putting them in a DIY Kreisel system with greenwater, rotifers and other smaller food items for a period of a week or more. After a week, start to introduce fresh (18 hours old or less) BBS. Just a tsp or less and watch to see how many, if any, are consumed. If you have a majority of the fry snicking them, you can start to switch over and reduce the feedings of rotifers etc. (I actually use oyster eggs too). MAKE SURE YOU ENRICH your foods.

That's not a barb.

Notice it only has a single cheek spine, and its coronet lacks the 5 prominant spikes that barbouri typically have.

I'd GUESS its a kuda, but its too young to tell for sure.

I suppose you could be right. It's not a reidi for sure. I've had plenty of reidis to know that it's not one.

I agree with you there, certainly not a reidi. Even juveniles tend to show the stereo typical reidi coronet. If its not a kuda, I got to think its one of the closely related species (possibly h. kellogii since they're on the market pretty regularly now a days).

Shane, where did you get it and how was it labeled? That will probably help the most when it comes to identifying the species.

Pretty sure it's not an erectus. It's not as deep chested.
