Digital Aquatic Controllers for the School Programs

I didn't know who to send this to so I figured I'd start a thread.

I read on the Digital Aquatics website that some of the units they refurbish are donated to school tank programs. I'm not sure if anybody has contacted them or not, but it might be worth the email.

I read about it on their site's Trade In program here:

http://www.digitalaquatics.com/downloads/Tradein.pdf

From the PDF:
"NOTE: Any Digital Aquatics products that are received MAY be reconditioned (if possible,) and donated free of
charge to classrooms across the country. If you know of, or participate in a program for schools let us know and
we’d love to work with you if possible as units become available."

Thanks, I sent them an email to see what they have. Anyone else know any online dealers who will donate items for classrooms, I am always trying to save a dollar.

Awesome! I just wrote them a letter on behalf of the club to see how many of these products we can have donated. Thanks for the tip!

From the ad I got the impression it doesn't happen often. Just make sure your emails got past their spam filters. A post in the DA forum like Ricunger said is probably a good idea.

I got a response today. They said that reusable parts are few and far between, but they would let me know if something became available.

That sounds like "we like to say we do for good exposure but rarely do". I can't understand how they get no reusable parts. Then again i don't build controllers. Hope you do hear something.

If you check the link I gave before they have a trade-in deal going on. So if anybody has an old controller working or not they can turn it in for discount on a new DA Elite. I got the impression that any old working DA controller they got from that deal goes back out to a school.

They don't advertise this like it's a big company policy to get pats on the back, so the fact that they don't do it that often doesn't surprise or offend me. I thinks it's nice they even THOUGHT of donating to schools. So NCPARS is on their list now..maybe it will pan out for a controller some day, maybe it never will..but if it does then great.

I'm still buying a DA Elite either way if I can afford it. :)
