Well, I haven't posted for a while. Just been letting mine accumulate time. I can say that it does consistently lose communication with the server but it runs ok, I just can't "talk to it". I have to reset it about once a week. Not sure what the trigger event is, but it is frustrating.

Right now I have only my CaRx being controlled and two other devices that are continuous run as well as pH monitor and temp monitor. My good ole RKE is controlling the important stuff (CaRx is important, but it basically runs open loop the way I have it set up, so not critical that Archon is working 100%).

Is this acceptable, HECK NO. I won't even update to the last updates because of the past issues updating (bricked two units which had to be replaced). Is the phone service at DA crap, YUP. Is the email service crap, YUP. Only reason I have hung on is Eric answers my texts and helps and the beta users help alot.

I just broke down my 120 which had the RKE running and I piggy backed the 300 onto it. Right now, I will be hooking all the main functions to the RKE. I will give the Archon a few more months, but getting close to pulling the plug on it. Nobody can say I haven't been fair on this issue, but DA needs to get their poop in a group and act like a real company.

Mike did you update to the latest software and firmware? It seems to have fixed the communication issue on mine. What software and hardware versions do you have running?
 
any idea in a place i can just buy a SID to update the modules?

Has anyone found a place i can just buy a SID from? Only to update the older Modules...

So far i am liking the Archon ..
now i just have to figure out the URL to set the UTC code again ...
 
Do your modules not work with the Archon? The NET, SID, RKE, RKL and RD1 will not work at this time. Most of the other modules have not had a firmware update for years. DA sells the SID on their web store if you really need it.
 
Thnx N, i figured the modules would need updating to work properly with all the features of the Archon ...

Does anyone have any idea if the ALC can do most things the MLC can do> just with fewer pod ports ?
I see the Achon has a Lunar setting, that can be applied to the ALC ..
is that enough for the lunar cycle?
 
The moonlight ports on the ALC work exactly the same as they do on the MLC if you apply the Lunar Light setting to the ports.

Might wanna check instead with your local community, I know some people may have it and be willing to let you borrow it temporarily, or the club as a whole may have some spare parts and equipment people rent/borrow.

Does anyone have the root password so i can telnet into this thing and verify the Timezone?

No password is needed to be able to access the unit via telnet. Unless you have enabled SSH and then you would have been the one to provide the password

Yes i Bitvise SSH by default. so i didn't even telnet into the box to set pwd...
got it changed now, thank you.
 
The ALC only controled the white LED's the last time I checked and that is on the older AI fixtures. What fixture do you have?
 
I have Sold but am thinking about upgrading to Hydras or Hydra 52's. The Apex controls each channel and has presets for 14k, 20k etc.
 
I tried logging in to my Archon this afternoon, and I keep getting a "connection reset" message. I can see it on my network map, and I can ping it, but I cant get to the web page. Does anyone know of anything I can do before I do a reset on the Archon that might help diagnose why its not responding? Does it log the problem when you shut it down and restart it? I am running the latest 1.09.31 and 1.08.9 firmware, so I thought that was supposed to fix the problem.

Funny (not really), mine lost communication this afternoon as well around 3:30PM EST. hummmmm
 
Mine messed up the other day but i was rearranging things and when I moved a couple of PC4's around it went nuts. It ended up being a connector on a buss cable. I changed out the connector and it has been OK since then. It is not any fun trying to find something like that when it just happens. Luckily it it did this when i was there moving things. It kinda narrows down what to focus on.
