Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

On the home page nothing sows up. I do show the Archon outputs on homepage. No graphs since it is not recognizing anything to graph I guess.

I meant shows up and I meant. Archon outputs sow up on the Output page. Nothing on home page.

Quick question, I am about to mod my lights to allow dimming functions to work with my Archon. I currently have 3 black box LEDs over a 6ft tank (may add a 4th but thats unimportant right now). Each light has 2 channels (Marsaqua LED), does this mean each light will needs its own ALC to control all 3 lights? Or can like a bus be used to reduce the amount of ALCs used. FYI my current system has an IOE module already.

If you aren't using the archon analog ports you can use the 4 of them for two if your lights. Then add a single ALC to get the 3rd under control. However if you aren't as intent on controlling all 6 channels independently you can say run all the whites in 1 dimmer circuit and then all the blues on another.

For example, I hacked into my reef radiance lumentek pro.it has three channels. I use three of the analog dimming channels to control it. Lmk if I can help in any way on the dimming of them. Do you know if they are analog or pwm?

I would prefer to run it all whites with one and all blues on one. Id rather not have to buy all those modules lol. Would doing it that way allow me to run all three lights off of one module? Right now I have a DCI pump interface controlling my pumps, Im not sure if that uses one of the necessary ports. Im not at home so I cant go look. Im also not sure if they are pwm or analog. The guy that owns SB lights has some youtube videos on how to do the DIY. He also sells an upgrade to the LEDs in most Chinese black box leds that are pretty good from what I have read. So I need to rewatch the video and see what he says or maybe email him

If you have an Archon you don't need an ALC. Just use the analog Outs that are on the Archon unless you already have them in use. Ther are 4 of them. A single DCI only uses 2 of them. If you do have them all used and still need analog you may be able to pick up a couple of PWM to 0-10 converters and use the 2 PWM channels on the Archon.

Archon has 4 analog ports. If u have just 1 dci then you are likely just using two of them. Is the dci plugged up to your IOE or to the archon directly?

The DCI is plugged directly into the Archon. Should that configuration be changed? Man this may be even easier if all I have to do is make cables to run to the lights and do the mods.

Just use the other 2 channels for the lights. If you have the IOE it is just a matter of hooking them up to the lights if the lights accept 0-10v signals.

Ok yes the lights do accept 0-10v signals, so thats good. As far as controlling the lights how would I split the signals? Could I use a bus to have one connection point for all the lights?

Come out of the analog ports on your IOE and then make you a harness where it splits the single analog pair into three pairs. Wire them in parallel. Sort of like a "y" but with 3 into one instead of 2. Having the ioe will make this an easy hookup.

On your lights. Once you know how to tap into them, wire the negative terminals of white channel together and the positive together then connect that to analog port 1 on archon. Do the same on the blues.

Got a new modem and connected it today. Before I do anything foolish can anyone confirm my steps to reconnect to Archon? When I just go to 192.168.0.10 I no longer connect. Assume I need to hit reset on Archon and then all steps from initial set up? Do I need to save files before hitting reset? If I can get through this I might attempt port forwarding now!

Got this from the manual 192.168.10.1. I think you do need to do a reset and log onto the Archon wifi hotspot and then goto that IP to get to the setup page. If I remember right it will not reset anything but what is on the setup page. Make sure and fill it out all of the items.
