Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

To be safe don't try and do an update while you are gone. Have fun on your trip. Make sure you have someone that you can call to go check on things if you notice something wrong. Luckly I have my son and daughter that live nearby. they come by to feed the cats if we are away anyway.

Well unfortunately I believe its time for me to throw in the towel with the Archon. It was amazing while it was working. The last update that was released made it so that I can no longer access my Archon. I listened to the recommendation from this thread and tried trouble shooting with Eric through email with no luck this past Thursday and Friday. Saturday we got on the phone and did some troubleshooting. We tried to get in through telnet then even went as far as to open up the Archon itself. Last I heard from him Saturday was that he was going to go back to his office and look for another password or next day air mail me another archon. Fast forward to today, I received no Archon, no texts, no emails no phone calls. I have emailed him multiple times to see if he shipped it but nothing. I have even called and its like the dude has disappeared. I get he is a busy man and Im not his only customer and even that other people have had this issue but come on. A simple reply to one of the texts or emails with some sort of update would have been enough. You know like, sorry I haven't had a chance to ship or I been busy. Something would have been better then nothing. If this was just something I programmed wrong and I was trying to get help I could understand the delay but after talking to him it was nothing I did. This was something on their. Im so frustrated and tired of this thing. :mad2:

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes it does seem insurmountable but I have always prevailed with help from those on this forum and Erik at DA. I am really loving the Archon these days. Don't give up yet. We all have things that pop up in our lives that prevent us from helping others in time of need. Even if it is our job sometimes.

Hello,
I do see that you received the new unit, I do apologize for disappearing, I had a battle with kidney stones that took me out for a while. Please let us know if there are any more issues.

Need help with LIGHTS ON standby function

Need help with LIGHTS ON standby function

Hi:
On my new Archon, I have the two PWM channels set up to control my white and blue LEDs with a 1 hr ramp up followed by 7 hrs full intensity followed by a 1 hr ramp down. I also have the blue and white LED AC power lines plugged into two switched sockets on PC4s so that they are switched OFF outside of the photoperiod and ON during the photoperiod. This works fine.

I would like to create (presumably) a standby function so that I could turn on the lights for a preset amount of time when the lights were off. Thus, this function would need to a) turn the two PC4 outputs ON and b) set the PWMs to 100%. How can this be done?

(I submitted this question on the D/A Archon Forum earlier this week, but the moderator never posted it)

Thanks for any help,
Phil

you will need to edit the standby you wish to use. set it for the time you want it to be.

then, go into the PWM channel and set it to on for that particular standby and then check the box. do the same for the PC4 outlets.

that should accomplish what you are looking to do. it should kick the PWM to a full on position (100%).

Thanks for that, Pickupman. I had been thinking that if I just turned the PWMs to ON then they would turn ON, but be running at whatever the RAMP/TIMER program had them set to (which would likely be 0%).

Your suggestion works for me.

Thanks,
Phil

Next question: before getting the Archon, I had occasionally been using an Eheim autofeeder with a built-in timer. I'd like to automate this so my Archon turns off the return pumps, deposits some food from an autofeeder (that it controls), waits 10 min, or so, and then turns the pumps back on.

Can anyone recommend such a feeder? (Basically, I simply want a feeder with no auto timer, but with a control input instead (preferably battery operated)).

Thanks,

Why not just sync the Archon to the times on feeder. I did this with my MP10's on Ecosmart live. I don't stop my return pump.

There is a manual feed switch on the Eheim. If you parallel this switch with a relay like the one in the SW5 it should work.

This is actually very easy to do with the virtual channels.
Under outputs you will see virtual channels, click the show and now you will have 16 channels to select from. Click on and select multiController and show. Select the channels you would like to turn on, and set the revert time to the length you would like the lights to stay on. once set, save the channel. Go to your home page and check the Virtual channel you just programmed (so that it will display on your home page). When you click this to on, it will run for the programmed time, then set the channels controlled by it back to their normal state (off if during the off time).

Thanks for all this input. I see that there are at least two ways to do this:
a) set up a timer and have each of the 4 output channels react to that timer, or
b) create a virtual channel with the 4 output channels in it.
Each can be easily activated and they achieve the same effect--is one to be preferred above the other?

Second question: My controller responds to SSH requests but the default web uid and pwd do not work. What is the correct default login?

Thanks,
Phil

That's what I meant when I said that the default web uid and pwd did not work. That pair does work for accessing the Archon home page via http, but it does not work (for me) for ssh access, viz:
phil@phils-i5 ~ $ ssh DigitalAquatics@192.168.2.171
