Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

Fish guy. So, you out new files on drive.. put it in archon, then applied power to archon with it's 9v adapter.

Just want to check steps. It sounds like it is not seeing the www files. The system duplicates them on boot so u can pull drive during operation. Post a screenshot of the www folder on the USB drive

That is correct, put files on the drive, plug it into the Archon, then power the Archon up. I'm also using Firefox for trying to log in.

Here are the screen caps. Second and third are the same page, just scrolled down. Let me know if you want to see anything else. Appreciate any thoughts.

Ok. That looks correct to me. As per mjntwize, do you have anything else plugged into it? If so, remove and start over. If not, then it sounds like something is not running properly. Must get with Eric again.

Nope, the Archon is on it's own for the setup, so no issues there. I'm emailing with Eric this morning so hopefully we can come up with something.

I spoke with Eric last night for about half an hour, we went through and tried a few different things, even sending me some new files to try and hooking up to the router via ethernet, no luck. He is going to send me a new one so we can swap it out. So bummer we couldn't work it out but he was very helpful and quick to offer to send a new one when we couldn't resolve it. I've been impressed with how well DA has handled issues I've run into, I can tell that they are working to improve their customer service image.

In other news, I just ordered a new router besides the pathetic comcast one, I'm excited to set up some port forwarding!

Has anyone hooked up a camera to their Archon? I am going to so I am looking for recommendations on what ones work good and what ones have issues.

I had a old andriod phone setup for a webcam. I had it setup to display on the Archon. It woked fine till the battery went bad. Unfortunatly it will not work without a battery. So I guess I am in the market also.

Referring back to Pickupman's videos I'd like to see something on how to use virtual outputs. I am programming challenged but if given some examples on how these function I could adapt them to my system. Just a narrative with some examples would work too as I know it takes time to do videos. Thanks.

So after my post a couple weeks ago about Eric taking care of things I've run into issues. Has anyone heard from him lately? I still haven't gotten the new Archon over two weeks later. Last week I asked him for a tracking number, had to email a few times before finally getting a reply on Monday he would send me the number after lunch. Never heard back, I've sent a few more emails since then and called a couple times.

I get if he has forgotten to send it but if so just tell me that is the case. I try to stand up for DA and get people to try out their products but when you have to go through this just to get an issue fixed I can't blame people for giving up on them.

It happens, I'd just really like to get it figured out and get it up and running again. I haven't really needed it but now I'm to a point where I need it to move forward. Even if he is shipping it out just this week that is fine, I just want to know something about it.

Well it's to the point now that I'm just being sent to voicemail. Not sure why, but it seems to me that asking for a tracking number after two and a half weeks is reasonable. At this point if I'm ever sent a working Archon I'm thinking I'll be selling it. I've tried to be supportive of DA and have used their controllers for several years now, but eventually it's just time to give up.

I decided to mess around with the Archon again, see if I could get it connected. I hardwired it, logged into my router to find it's IP address. For some reason it connected to http://192.168.1.9. I was able to log into it through there. I was then able to do the recent updates, so it is at-

Software version is: 1.09.70.
Hardware version is: 1.08.10.
Package version is: 2.00.09.
Firmware is up to date.

So made some progress. That said I still cant get it to connect wireless. The setup page lists the IP as 192.168.10.1. If I disconnect the ethernet, connect to the Archon network it says limited connectivity, I go to that address but it times out every time.

If I click on Update Archon connection Set Hostname is blank, internet port is set to 80, access port address is listed as 192.168.10.1. Then if I go to wireless setup, I select my wireless network, change encryption to WPA2, enter my password, then hit update. The system seems to lag for a second, then it jumps to an unable to connect screen. Hitting refresh does bring the page back up but it does not appear to have saved the wireless info.

Any thoughts on getting this to work? Knowing I can get into it now I'm undecided on if I'm going to sell it or keep it as I have so much DA equipment at this point. I'd prefer to be able to access it wireless, but I do have ethernet where it is located if I really need to stick with that.

Edit-
Something I'm not sure is interesting or not, it does not list an Archon IP address. I assume that is because it is wired? But I'm not really sure.

Edit 2-
I got a static IP and port forwarding set up, it is pretty dang neat to be able to access off the network.

192.168.10.1 is the IP for the Archon on it's own wireless network. On your own local network it will be different. You will have to set it up to conmect to your network. To use 192.168.10.1 select the Archon as you wireless connection on the device you are using.

That's part of the issue I described above though. If I try to connect to the Archon network I get limited connectivity, then it times out when I try to go to 192.168.10.1. It won't bring it up for me. Like I said, I also tried to connect the Archon to my network while hardwired but it freezes up saving the info.

What are you using to connect? What browser? The limited connectivity is normal since there is no internet connection. You probably also get one for it being unprotected.
