Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

Yeah when I do the reset it does not save the user name and password after reset. It does save the time zone. So then I pull the flash drive and edit the user name and password manually which apparently sets the time zone back to who knows. There needs to be a way to turn the auto sync time off.

Lovely new development. This morning the Archon has lost all homepage data. I can only view info from the Archon and one other module. Performed reset as well as shutdown and restart. I have to leave this thing for a week and it can't seem to go even 1 night! I don't know if I have time to put the RKE back in charge before leaving.

So far I haven't had anybody mess with mine with the default login.

Yes I suppose it isn't likely. But it shouldn't be necessary to choose between the two

I got my system back by removing all files from the flash drive and putting an older set I had stored on the computer on it.

I do not trust this thing at all at this point.

That is why I never mess with my tank a week or so before going out of town..

By the way for those who mounted their tablets to their stand how did you do it?

Well I set this up weeks ago. It has been this way for a while. There are some recent problems that have cropped up. Also when I travel I often do not have much notice. I really just need the controller to be stable and work as it is supposed to.

I mounted the tablet using this super double sided adhesive that is used to mount exit signs to walls. Works well and can be removed if necessary.

That is odd. Mine has been very stable on this release. I am getting some alarms for high pH that don't so in the graphs. I didn't have this, until the latest update to the 100 ths digit. I still trust it for all the pump functions and the ATO. It has been controlling those for months now without issues. I did have to reload the files once but only the graphs part of the web interface was locked up. It was still controlling things fine. Did it appear to been running everything are was everything stopped and the modules flashing?

Yes it was still controlling everything. I just lost the interface with 90% of the system. If this had happened tomorrow I would have had no way to verify whether or not things were still functioning. Perhaps there is something wrong with my unit.

Would you have a link too the tape? is it a foam tape because I think I would need something to raise mine out a little..

I don't have a link but here is a pic of the stuff I use.

You may want to shut down the tablet you are using for a display if no one is going to be around to check it. That is one less thing polling the controller.

Ok, but I am sorry if this sounds harsh.

Why in the world can't the programmers get the basic functions like system time to work? Right now it is pretty stupid. You set offset from UTC on set up. Should be DONE at that point. Clicking Daylight Savings time should mearly be a 1 hour offset from that. Right now you guys have us holding our right arm in the air, look in the mirror at 33 degrees, sneeze and push a command.... oh, if it didn't work....try again.

SoloGarth is 1000% right. He can't leave home without reverting to his old RKE system .... hummmm, I am at the same point. I have a $400 brick on my counter controlling vaporware because I am afraid to hook to my tank.

PLEASE, put the energy into getting a stable system. The beta testers seem to have a stable system, but they also can get ahold of DA and physically talk to them. We on the other hand, may get help "in a day or two".

I have really been patient, but this is getting pretty concerning to say the least and I am about ready to throw in the towel.

I hate to say, I'm not upgrading until all the bugs are worked out with the Archon programming.

Thanks, my ReefKeeper Elite is running just fine for now.

Mike,
My time is ok but I did uncheck DST to get the right time. I have posted the issue along with some others I have with the new firmware. As SoloGarth mentioned. His time issues show up when he changes the username and password from the default. I have also posted about this issue. Is there a different issue you are having? If so I can pass it along. I didn't have the time issue until one of the later updates. I am not sure which one. It did work without issues before.

I didn't have the issue until 1.03 flash update best I can tell. Actually things were pretty stable. I gave up a long time ago trying to set a different username and password and have always left to the default.

It may seem minor, but if the timers don't work, the system is not usable to me. I depend on those, the alarms, and the float switches to both program events and catch system anomalies.

Also, why aren't the developers accessible and willing to get this correct. The only communication the users have is through the beta users. Not saying anything what so ever bad about the beta group (because without you guys this would have failed months ago), but they (DA) don't seem to be connected to the users and how frustrated we are becoming. I defy anyone to call DA and get someone to answer the phone. IT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN and that is totally unacceptable to me. If they have cloud plans, TELL US, if they are working on a fix TELL US. Why do they have to let the beta testers be the fall guys??

I JUST DON'T GET IT to be honest. I really have been open minded and supportive, but it needs to be a two way street.

Eric is a one man show best I can tell, or he is the only one that cares. If it was not for him, many of us would have been Apex users by now. This has potential, but the VERY POOR business behavior of DA really makes me wonder if they know what they are doing.

Eric is the one that us Beta tester communicate with. Have you tried it without the DST checked. I think that was one of the things added in that release along with the AM/ PM. I have my UTC at -6 and I had to uncheck DST to get the correct time without resetting and changing the UTC. Since it has been working correctly since Wed night I am reluctant to try reseting it and changing the UTC. I too have timers setup and they are working since the time has been correct on the system.so I am guessing that your timer cannot just shift the hour that the time is changing. How do you have the timer setup.

My latest try was to set to -5 (I am EST). I then went in and made sure DST was unchecked. I did the synchonizetime(). The time came back at 1 hour different than my local time. I did this a few times (reset and blah..). Always the same result.

I manually changed the time and then did a sync.. on the last reset. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Even if they rewrote the code to do something easy to fix the system time like duh.... Systime = UTC plus offset, if DST checked -1 if date () seems pretty straight forward to me.
