Digital Aquatics or Neptune Systems

As far as the Digital Loggers set up.... I think you can only power off or on equipment. Remember the Apex will give you real time updates and graphs on your system from equipment to water parameters with the ability to control, change, and power on/off as you see fit. I do not believe that device you listed would do such a thing, if I'm not mistaken.

Vertigo01, in reference to is it a Chevy vs. Ford........ after months of homework and research I would have to say Apex is like flying first class on EMIRATES Airlines and Digital Aquatics is like flying economy on Southwest Airlines.

Both airlines will get you to your destination, but one will give you a 5 star dinner and wine and the other will give you a bag of peanuts and a styrofoam cup of soda. LMAO!!! I hope that puts it into better perspective. I'm not sold yet on a controller, but if.... and I say if I get one. I will go with the NEPTUNE APEX.

I've never flown on Emirates, but I hear it's an amazing experience.

Haha. Yes this. This is the feeling.

Yes, thanks. With the Apex, I will be paying more for the same functions that the Digital Aquatics offers.

Well as mentioned there are lots of things the APEX can do that the DA gear cannot. Just look through the available modules for each set.

Apex:
Leak detection
Par measurement
AFS
WAV pumps
Cloud based
DOS
Ecotech compatible (excepting the Vectra)
Dissolved O2

I'm sure I'm missing some.

On Archon side you have:
Wifi
Open source
DP1 (less expensive but less robust than DOS)
DCI

Feel free to chime in here any current archon users with things I missed.

I have owned the Profilux, Reefkeeper Lite and Reefkeeper Elite

I Now run the Neptune Apex. As you have found the Apex has the largest following.
It is an extremely flexible controller and nobody else has the Fusion interface
that really tends to put them out in front.

My best advise is before you buy really look at the service side of
all of them some of the vendors out there have very poor support
(that was why I switched from the Reefkeeper to the Apex.)

At the end of the day the Apex really is the front leader.

Does that mean that they will no longer offer updates for Lite users?
I recently had to send my head unit back and when I got my invoice, it said on there that they no longer support the Apex Lite. I took it has you can not send it for service anymore. You may want to confirm with Neptune before purchasing the Lite

I would not purchase the lite either way. Just my opinion but as someone mentioned in another thread you can't use float switches with the lite without purchasing another module (pm1 or pm2) in addition to the breakout box.

I have never used the DA Archon controller. DA does lack the factory support that Neptune has and the large volume of apex users gives you another avenue of support and ideas.

there is also reef angel...i have one when it was up on my 75 it worked great..but had to take that take down do to moving. yet to set up. but it worth looking in to..

The support out of DA is practically non extant (I finally just gave up)
That was a strong factor in me switching to the Apex.

With the DA Products it was my experience that they are far more susceptible
to noise; I would suspect due to the lack of using shielded cables.
A local reefer here had major issues with his DA Controller
malfunctioning when he hooked up his HM lights (due to the noise).
I also run amateur radio and when I transmitted (even on low power) my
DA controller would reset and act up, so that spoiled that hobby for me.

Since switching to Apex I also switched to MH lights and have
zero issues either with the MH lights or running amateur radio.

Apex also has a much larger user base, that also translates in to
more working capital for the manufacture to develop new products.

I have had many DA systems over the years .........
DA RK lites and RK Elites .

I now run a full loaded Apex, and am much happier, and feel much more in control . My son Runs an Apex Jr .

Its pretty nice to be able to pull up all your reef tank parameters while on vacation, at work ..........or even just out at the movies or a restaurant ! I can check Temp , PH, ORP, Salinity, Amp draw , and control almost anything on my tank while I am out. Heck I can even feed the fish if I forget and even see them eating the food with the live video feed . All from my smart phone.
Laptop is also an option while away. Like on vacation or a business travel for instance.

I think I can safely say this ...........

There are lots of reefers who have made the switch from ReefKeeper to Apex !
But how many reefers have you heard of that switched from Apex to Reefkeeper ???

Enough said ............

Just go with an Apex .

You sure left out a lot of DA modules. The ones below all work with the Archon
SL2v2
SLX
ALC
APC
PC1
PC4
PB4
PB8
MLC
SW5
SL1
IOE

The GRI 2600 leak detector work nicely with any of the switch inputs on the Archon. These can be had for as low as $17 each. They just need a 12v supply to power them.

I am not sure how you come up with less robust on the DP1. I have three of these and they are pumping from floor level up through the attic for 35 ft then down to floor level without issue. In fact one is sucking water for that distance then pumping it back up through the attic through a check valve then back down to the drain below the kitchen sink.

Yeah I was only listing ones they don't both have that are very similar. I didn't list all the Apex modules either.

I have only had a Apex for a short time, It's been great, I did have a learning curve but the Neptune community was a great help. The service department also very good. Someone even responded to my e-mails over holidays. I have never had a DA so can't speak about them.
