dimmable lighting..

Okay, i just bought a GHL profilux profiset 2 for my new 90g build (see reef discussion). I want to use a 24" twin 24w T5 strip to run in conjunction with my 2X 150w M/H's. The T5's will probably be just standard octopus ones. If i buy a twin dimmable ballast and change that for the standard ballast on the octopus T5, do i need to add a dimmable ballast control board to my profilux profiset 2controller for this to work? I want the T5's to gradually wake my tank before the M/H's come on and to see the tank into the LED moon lights when the M/H's switch off.

Also im not happy with the blue end of the spectrum that my 1400k M/H bulbs are emitting, so was thinking about changing to 2000k's. How will that effect my coral growth? The new system will include sps.

What bulbs would you fit the T5's with? bearing in mind the fact that they will be on for a couple of hours before the M/H's and if its of any benefit, with the M/H's during the day.

Sorry for all the questions, im pretty new to T5's and obviously want to get the best light in my tank for the money.

Thanks in advance, Mark.

You will need one of the interface kits from GHL so it can plug into one of the L ports. The most basic being the LBF-AP this is the most basic

More advanced would be the EVG-AP-2F card that also shuts off the line voltage to the ballasts at 0V to make sure the lamps go completely off.

I think the open RC forum will help you better with your T5 questions as everyones choice varies.

thank you! also, does the LED DIMU light do the same job as the two cheaper LED light? Will it do a sunrise, a sunset, and storms?

ANY is a broad statement, there are way too many units on the market, it is best to discuss this with the manufacturer
