Dinoflagellate ID

I'm hoping someone can give me some piece of mind and help me confirm that I do in fact have dinoflagellates covering my rock in the attached pictures. I'm currently on day 5 of my treatment cycle with Dino X and combined with a 2 day black out and a shorter photo period I do believe I am seeing an improvement. Can someone help confirm my suspicions? Can anybody that has been in this situation offer some advice? It would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

It looks like just diatoms and algae to me, can't tell for sure without a close up. The dinoflagillate has small individual squares that cover everything.

Interesting. I originally thought diatoms too until six months later when they were still there. Is it possible for diatoms to hang around that long?

I have been doing weekly water changes on this tank since it was set up in June. I've never had detectable nitrate readings.

The light period could be affecting the algae, or putting in too many nutrients. You have to feed real light to make sure the phosphate doesn't get too high, that may be your problem. Have you checked the phosphate?
