The good news is my carpet nem responded great to the cipro treatment for its bacterial infection. Very happy about that!
The bummer is my display fuge, where I plan to house my carpet anemone, had a dino bloom while it was in treatment. Ive done a blackout, which knocked it back but did not eradicate it. I plan to slowly raise my ph to 8.6 over a few days with Kalkwasser, and keep it there for a while after all the dinos die off.
My water parameters are
Salinity 1.025
Temperature 78.5
alk 9.3
mag 1450
calcium 400
phosphates 0 - Hannah
nitrates real low, 0-2 salifert
The low nutrients was caused by the dino bloom, sucked everything up!
I'm just curious if the dinos, being somewhat like cyano (if I understand correctly) part bacteria and part algae - could possibly re-infect my carpet anemone?
I did a basic qt, heater, p.h., ato - so I've still been doing 100% water changes a day, that's getting old, and my wifes starting to complain about the time its taking up.
What are your thoughts on placing him back in the display fuge? I feel like I either need to get him back in before I start raising the ph (I plan to keep it there for a while once at 8.6, maybe even a few months) so he adjusts slowly with the rest of the tank, OR I have to attempt to keep him happy in my 10g qt. It just worries me with such a small water volume, things happen quickly. I'd hate to lose him to a ammonia spike after his comeback!
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give all the info I could.
Thanks for any help.
