Diodogorgia nodulifera

Purple Penguins

New member
I about a month ago purchased this NPC and wanted to be sure I have been doing everything I can, unsure if its classified as one of the most difficult since all gorgs in my opinion are, I have been feeding cyclopeeze, phytomax and brine shrimp it polyps out every late afternoon and I have it in strong water flow it is in a 24 gal system and thus far has been doing good and hope it remains that way while in the plans of a massive tank upgrade, any thoughts, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Diodogorgia nodulifera 2 days ago the mucus/webbing is from earlier me blowing debrit off the rocks also the mass of green that appears to be hair algae actually has a barnicle in it, should I be concerned with this?

As long as yours keeps putting out its polyps and feeding, it should be allright. These are some of the easiest gorgonians to keep alive, but any gorgonian is difficult to keep healthy. I keep mine in a gorgonian only tank.

The actual volume of food required to keep one healthy is still very much unknown.

My best guess (based on the encrusting growth I am observing in my own tank) is that feeding three cyclopeeze cubes daily is working pretty well.

Half of my gorgonians have encrusted onto the rockwork. The other half got knocked over by urchins and had to be re-glued down.

I would pull off that algae, too. The barnacle probably won't hurt the gorg, but it's not helping, either.

I think this species is pretty easy, too. Feeding and keeping algae growth off of it is the key.

I have a question about a propagation system system that feeds directly into the main system which tank of the month was that.
the issue I am looking for featured a large sps set up fed by a greenwater system below in sump.
