Dipping corals, how do YOU do it?

I have been dipping in Tropic Marin Coral Cure per the instructions. I now have AEFW and will be doing Interceptor and Lavamisole treatments in QT for 4 weeks with all new incoming corals. Can't take any more risks of missing eggs, etc. on new specimens.

How many of you folks are segregating these dipped incomming corals in prop tanks connected to you system?

... and, how many are using isolated QT?

For those using a QT, how do you handle water quality in a coral QT, just water changes?

I have had 2 seperate systems that I could place corals in for a couple of months before introducing them into my main tank.....a 40 gallon with MH and a 29 with VHO's. Both filtered with live rock and skimmers. I also typically dipped one more time before the move just for sure. I am transferring everying into one system when I move in a week or so and so I'm not really sure what I will do. I do have plenty(too many some would say:rolleyes: ) of corals so I will probably not setup a QT as I won't be aquiring any new corals anytime soon.

That's just my experience.

If I ever get to the point to where I am restocking a tank with corals or fish I will setup seperate QT's again designed to keep them. IMO it's a really good idea.

After a rather slow (2 hr) drip acclimation procedure, I give them a 6 hour Interceptor bath in a half gallon bucket with a tiny powerhead pointed UPWARDS. This creates a small fountain and assures I'm not subjecting anything to a laminar flow situation during this time. I'm sure I'm using at least 5X the Interceptor dosage because I can't measure low enough to 'correctly' dose a half gallon of water. The whole bucket is clipped to my frag tank, by the way, to assure the temperature is consistent with the system both during and after the bath.

After the six hours are up, I add 20 drops of Lugols to the same water and let it sit for another 15 minutes. Then I shake the piece and place it directly into my frag tank which is connected to my main system. I've left pieces in there from just a few days to several months and since I've been dipping this way (6-8 times), I have not lost a single frag.
