wondering what everyone does with their saltwater they pull out from their tank during water changes.....flush it down the toilet like I do?

Is there anything else I can reuse the salt water for?

I guess Ill just keep dumping it down the toilet:hmm3:
cant water lawn or plants with it

interesting I did not know about the weed control, I will try on my patio always getting weeds between the blocks.

Knowing what saltwater does to the parts on my boat...I'm beginning to wonder how bad it is to flush down the toilet knowing that parts of plumbing system are cast iron...can't be good (especially if on a well). I think I am going to use salt away every few months to help with corrosion.

Don't use it on weeds, we tried this on the grass coming up between the pavers and it all turned green and happy. :p Maybe if you let it evaporate some first.

I'm curious if it can it be used to start the cycle of a new tank or to cure dried out live rock?

I started using some of my water from water changes to grow macroalgae :)
I am growing chateo gracilaria and ulva...just for fin hehe

It can totally be used to start a cycle of new tank, or to cure live rock

Then maybe one of the "responsible" things we can do is offer our used saltwater to fellow reefers in our respective areas (through your local club possibly) to start a new tank cycle or cure some new rock they've purchased. I realize it may not happen often, but what the heck...recycling is all the rage right now!!!

Used saltwater is excellent for the culture of Brine shrimp. If you can let it stand for about two weeks then add 1/4 teaspoon of bleach stir let stand after for about 5 days .Hatch Brine Shrimp eggs in another jar. After hatching siphon young directly into this mix feed ground marine flakes every 4 days.

I'm using my DOS for water changes to my QT, then to a plastic drain that feeds to my main.
