Discovery Correct?

Yesterday I got a Maxijet 1200 with a Hydro-Flo and a Maxijet 900 to replace my stock pump in my Aquapod 24g. After I put them into the tank I watched over a few hours as the temperature climbed from 78 to 82.2 degrees. I could not figure it out as I knew that the Maxijets combined were less wattage than the stock pump. I finally discovered that when the Hydro-Flo directed water at the surface it was coming into contact with the Hot Light shield. That means that it made contact with the shield approximately 3300 times today. I slighly lowered my water level and the Maxijet. I hope that this is the cause.

Maxi Jet's are great powerheads when it comes to dependability, but they are notorious for being inefficient, thus radiating heat in the water.... experiences like yours are not uncommon.
