Diseased Zoas?

Picked these guys up from the LFS I work at. They haven't opened up in weeks. I dipped them in CoralRX and they still look like they have fungus. Any ideas on what I should do next?

idk why that posted twice. also, I'd try a peroxide dip/drip. have 2 containers

fill one with tank water and put the coral in the other. drip H2O2 over the coral for 1 minute then let the coral soak in the tank water for 3 minutes then put it back in the tank.

That should take care of it

I dipped the corals in a 1:10 Peroxide Solution and just going to see what happens over the next couple days. Thanks, very informative video!

here. Watch this

enjoy! hope that helps. Id suggest getting the brush and wiping them a little

Thanks for the video!!! I like the way he made it. Very well.
The Furan-2 (used on the video) is mainly for zoa Pox and the iodine solution he was talking about would be for other bacterial infections and some fungus. I personally prefer the iodine for general bacterial infections because it's liquid. My choice of iodine solution is Lugol's solution or even iodine tinctures.

Good to see that crazy crab! I always recommend to avoid all sort of crabs. We don't want to take a chance!! Even the hermits!!
Thanks again!

How do you dose your rates?

I don't think you've got fungus, but algae. Yes, H2O2 is the way to go. 1/10 is a good beginning, but normally you'll need little more than that. I wouldn't go more than 50/50. Just wait and see what is happening after the first dip. Go slow with the dips...
Good luck!

I have a similar algae in my tank. On zoas just like yours as well as on rock. I will try the hydrogen peroxide dip on what can be removed. What do I do with the stuff that I cannot remove from the tank? Better yet, how do I avoid this green algae from coming back?

Ontheedge. How are your dipped zoas looking? Do you switch them around or just put them in a dip and let them sit there for a few minutes? Thanks

It could be that the reason they are closed is predation and/or bacterial infection.
The algae just grow when they are closed.

The last picture shows an amphipod. Some species eat zoanthids, so you should make sure they're not destroying the colony.
Also the shrimp could be irritating or stilling food particles from the zoanthids and that should be avoided. If the shrimp stays all the time on them they will be closed and the algae will grow.

I would make sure the shrimp is off the colony and the amphipods aren't eating them in the first place, then leave the polyps alone for a week or so.

Signs of bacterial infection would be film over the colony or melting, basically.

The H2O2 normally is added to tank water in a container. I would start with max 1/3 of the total volume, but leave only for a minute. Most of the time the algae would be related to nutrient problems, so check your nitrates/phosphates and go from there. No sense to dip it if the nutrient problem isn't solved.
