Dive Shop in NJ?

I'm dying to up my scuba certification another notch. I don't think I'll ever stop until I end up a Dive Master. The problem is that I recently moved to NJ and am still trying to get my bearings. I'm lucky I find my way home at night. Any suggestions on a good padi certified dive shop would be much appreciated.

Also, does anyone know where I could get CPR certification? I never really had the urge to do that, but I need it for Rescue Diver.

One more thing, does anyone know any good spots to shore dive in NJ?

I am on the wrong coast but from what I've heard theres a bunch of good dive shops in Jersey. I haven't heard of much beach diving, but I know there's a lot of really good wreck diving there! Im jealous! I just dove a wreck here in So Cal where the deck was 110' deep and I am dying to go back. The difference is the wrecks here were cleaned, stripped, and sunk on purpose, whereas back there....

The things I keep learning about Jersey. It would be nice to wreck diving again. The last time was in the St. Lawrence down to 100ft where my mask decided to continually flood because my hood kept giving me huge smile lines. A teensy scary for my first really deep dive, but obviously I pulled through and really wish to go deeper in the future.

Yeah, I have seen the purposely sunk ships before. I can't remember the lake's name, but they had a sunk a helicopter, an ambulence, a small plane, and a train car. Nothing quite like seeing a sunfish in a helicopter.

I'm thinking I may be forced to do some online searches and trips to dive shops. btw, have you tried to connect to the padi website. I've been trying for a couple days and it seems to be down. Any ideas?

dive shops

Until quite recently, there was a nice little dive shop right in your neighborhood, in downtown Millburn. It seems to have closed after a diver drowned during a quarry dive about a year ago. I think he was a new diver, and a lawyer. I know there is ongoing litigation.

There is an old, well established Scubapro shop in Cerdar Grove, and PADI shops in Westfield and in Edison. All three are within 45 minutes of Summit There are many others throughout the state, and one large operation in Bergen County that is excellent. Another good shop is located close the the diving, in Neptune, and still another further south, on Long Beach Island.

tony13 - thanks so much for the site. I started soliciting people at my LFS about diving...with partial luck. The one guy that actually dove goes to NYC, which confuses me a bit. I haven't dove in a bit and I've been getting terribly excited lately thinking about it. Thanks again!
