Diving in Colombia - Help

I am going diving in San Andres, Colombia and probably also near Cartegena. Has anyone gone there? Can anyone recommend a dive shop there. I am a pretty experienced diver with over 200 dives.

I did some diving two months ago in Cartegena with a local shop operating out of a yacht club. The run up the coast is about an hour to the very nice Rosario islands. Scuba Planet and Scuba Adventures are two names I recall. There are quite a few dive operations in Cartegena, which is a magnificent city, though starting to get a little pricey. They deal with mostly local divers, and have a few issues. Nothing too serious. Bring your own basic equipment, if possible, and don't expect to have your hand held.

I was thinking about bringing my mask, reg and computer. Hopefully that will do the trick. If you have any more info, let me know. Thanks.

Anyone know about diving in San Andres?

Also, how was the diving in Cartagena? Worth it? I have about 200 dives under my belt and have been to some pretty awesome places. I don't want to waste a day if the diving is not great.

There is no decent scuba diving that I know of in the immediate vicinity of Cartagena. There apparently are several dive sites well east of the city. I visited two, both on the same day. They were ok, not spectacular, but enjoyable enough. Standard Caribbean diving, median quality, not a diving destination, really. I was lucky to hit a patch of good weather. I went primarily to visit Cartegena, which is spectacular in so many ways. It's the centuries old city that plays a central role in many of the fantastic and magical works of Garcia-Marquez. This was not my first time there, and it will not, I hope, be my last.

cartagena is ok in the diving department, more snorkeling material or santa anna. But if you are going to be in Colombia, try malpelo island, it is great. i have heard good things about scuba adventure.
