i was thinking the same thing. Get caught doing that and it is a major fine. They are pretty strict about touching sea turtles in hawaii.
I don't think it's as big of a deal as you think to touch the turtles. It is illegal but every dive / snorkel trip I have been on in Hawaii the guide has brought a turtle out for everyone to see.
Really cool pics. Thanks for sharing.
Just as a side note (not that I personally care) this is a HUGE no no.
Nice octopus, and thats funny that the turtle just sat there and let you pose behind him
Turtles are actually very friendly. The more chill you are, the more chill they are. My wife and I were snorkeling in Maui last week and one surfaced not 5' from us to check us out. Maybe he noticed my gills and decided I wasn't a threat.
Disgraceful? I suppose the terms "Letter of the Law" and "Spirit of the Law" are lost on you...
Yes I think that petting wild animals is wrong, like any responsible diver would do. And pulling an Octopus from it's hole/lair and holding it up to the camera by it's arms is a disgrace, and that certainly looks like that's whats happening on the photo. :crazy1:
