Diving in Koh Samui Thailand

Anyone ever been out to Koh Samui?

That's where I first got certified, but it's been a while and I'm headed back. I remember going to Sail Rock. Any other recommendations?

If you're going to be there between October and May, the protected, uninhabited Similan Islands (a group of nine islands I believe) will be open to the public. It's considered one of the world's 10 best diving sites. Unfortunately for me, I'm not going to be there until June because of work schedule. Damn!

Phuket is a bit far from Samui, relatively speaking. I've been to Phuket and dove around the Similans a couple times. The Indian Ocean side does have excellent diving and more sites.

Samui is on the Gulf of Siam side. I'll be there in January.

If you want to stay on the Gulf side, you could try Koh Tao.

Sorry John I don't it was like 10 or 12 years ago. I do remember I enjoyed the trip. I stayed in a cabana and had a great time. I was dating a Thai lady at the time and it was a great trip. I spent time in on Koh Samui and Phuket that trip but only went diving in Koh Tao.
