Sweet looking set-up. I would suffer having a small tank with prices being what they are over there on live stock!

the 3 corals i bought were under 20.

clown fish, firefish, 6line goby are dim a dozen.

this is just an experiment tank...just to see if im able to set up a reef tank in hong kong. gonna go bigger once i get everything down =)

more updates, well, a few dead fish later (forgetting to check the salinity of the water the fish was in, probably died from the shock) and a jumping yellow watchman goby...i think im getting this keeping fish alive thing down pretty good

bought a firegoby and cleaner shimp and they stayed alive for a week in the tank. all eating well.

today went and bought 2 clown fish, a pretty big frag of frogspawn and sun coral to add to the tank. a few hours of adding the suncoral to the tank, i tried feeding it mysis shrimp and the thing ate up every shrimp i fed it. one head had like 4-5 shrimp and its still asking for more! truly amazed at that coral. the clown fish started eating the mysis that were floating around too so that was a good sign

on with the pictures
Sun coral not too long after feeding

took some pictures...waited a while for them to open up...it a bit late already and the lights turned off...actinic is still on. ill take some "daytime" pics later today

heres the bunch all lined up on the sandbed

got an air skimmer. want to get the tunze 9002, but the locals all bashed the hell out of it, and its as expensive as my skimmer. the air skimmer was less than 10 with a pump

skimmer started skimming some light tea color skimmate, still need to wait for it to break in and tune a little to get a little darker skim

bought the new maxi jets

gotta say im in love with this pump. build is nice, external or internal, variable flow. using it as a water changer pump and salt mixer.

high end test kits =)

water output is kinda of on the low side tho. it cant evven fill up a 5gal bucket in an hour. is it because my water pressure isnt good enough?

just started the system up

couple mins later

and that seems to be as low as it gets....probably the cheap freebie TDS meter from a while back isnt as accurate.

live stock is pretty cheap. but theres lots of problems with them...esp for fish. too many diseases. i had a few clownfish die on me due to ick and fungus disease.

oh that sucks sorry to hear that but i looked up those hailea chillers in the states they start at around $370! i'm moving to china

Nice work. Keep us posted on the hobby there. Thanks for sharing.

You probably have a 90g per day unit.

4g per hour
x 24 hours
__________
96g

mini update...seems like switching to RO/DI water helped. things seems to be coming back. still have red algae on some places but hopefully those will eventually be totally gone
