DIY Dual Overflow Design

Let me know what you think of this design. It's an attempt to compact the size and reduce the number of parts in the other dual overflows I've seen, but I'm not sure if the flow/siphon will work correctly. Elbows would be street elbows where applicable to reduce size further. Larger Pipe would be 1.5" and the rest would be 1".

At the top of each overflow I would use a check valve with an air lift pump attached. Would 1 pump running both sides cause any issues?

Does the height of the overflow matter as long as the air intake is the highest point and the down tube tee is higher than the lowest point? In other words, can the stand pipe be 4" tall, or is there a recommended minimum height?

It doesn't work as designed. I used one for two years and will never recommend it. Been around for many years and still fails to meet expectations. It doesn't handle much flow and has only minimal surface skimming capability. You would be much better off purchasing a conventional HOB overflow.

as mentioned i would not waste my time or money on one of these…100% better to drill tank, barring that go with a HOB overflow...

Well I certainly appreciate the heads up. I figured with all of the websites, threads, and videos, these things worked. After doing some reading it looks like the LifeReef overflow boxes get a lot of positive feedback. Any opinions on them vs the eshopps?
