DIY gfo/carbon reactor

So I really wanted one of the dual gfo/carbon reactors from BRS but could only really come up with enough funds to get the media itself. I know that i could have just placed a bag of it in the sump but I wanted to ensure better flow through the media than that. My wife and I went to lowes and once she had a bead on what the heck I was talking about we quickly assembled the parts from the plumbing section and my DIY Reactor was born for 17.58 in parts. The main chamber is 2inch threaded pipe, the ends are threaded hose clamps with a threaded reducer inbetween. The reducer has a large, thick o-ring under which i streached a old filter bag I cut to provide a screen. I know that this will hold enough media for my needs although it may not work for a larger tank. I wanted to share this just in case someone wanted to use it.

I didn't even think to ask around for extra plumbing parts. O well, thanks for the offer. That will teach me to hit the boards first!

one end will be connected to a pump in the sump thrusting water through the reaction chamber, through the media, then out to my fuge, then (gravity fed) back to the sump, between the cheato and the gfo i think that should take care of my po4 issues!
