as some of you know/remember, I diyed the overflow in my 30long. Fish are ending up in the overflow chamber a bit too often so I want to find some sort of a guard or screen to keep fish where they belong... in te tank. Any suggestions?

I had fish and snail in the overflow all the time.

I used plastic gutter gaurd from Lowes or Home Depot. Cut some larger than the top of the overflow, bent it to shape and used cable ties to keep it in place. I haven't had anything in the overflow since.

Not my idea, got it from people here. I bought a whole roll. If you want some, PM me with your address and I'll cut off a foot or so and stick in the mail.

I use egg crate (aka. light diffuser) Then I like to cover it with window screen to block the light out and reduce algae growth. I'm not sure if it is the best way but it works for me...
