DIY Skimmer Question

I am building a skimmer and I am not sure where to drill the holes for the inputs and outputs. Also I am not sure what size pipes to use. If anyone could help me with this that would be great. I am planning on using one of the pipes below.

I know that these illustrations are not identical to your skimmer, but they should help.

I don't think that the placement is critical. At first I didn't know what size pump I was going to use so I made the center of the skimmer input at about 8". The GX-2400 does hang from my skimmer without touching the base.

The pics above was with a much larger pump equivalent to a Sedra 9000 I believe. I think that may have been too big, but I’m not positive. It’s trial and error. I may stick it back on and find out. I don’t think it hurts to put it a tad high just in case.
