DIY stand question

Stopped by Home Depot today to get some creative ideas for building a stand for a new 120 im planning.

My original plan was to use four 2x4's for the base, top and all supports.
But when I was in the store I saw some 3/4" Oak panels that would be perfect for the base and top as they were sized 48" x 24", the exact size of the tank.

they seemed pretty sturdy, so do ya'll think I could use those two panels as the top and bottom and then 2x4's as the supports?

I just finished a 120 stand build for a friend. I think you'll find your tank is 48.5"X24.5" If you you precut stuff you'll need to be creative on the corners I just made a corner molding to hide the rough edge of the plywood.

I first built a 2x4 frame then applied 3/4 oak on the skin. It's built like a tank and is nice looking if I say so myself. I'll try to post some pics for ya.

Good luck

For the top 1/2" marine plywood will be OK covering 2x4 frame.
Leave the bottom of the frame open (good to have some air in case of spills) but use 1/2" marine ply to cover the top of the bottom cross bars for setting your sump.
Use the Oak pannels to cover the sides as described by radone above.
This drawings may give you some ideas just remember this was for a tank twice as heavy.
