DIY Sump

I am about to silicone my baffles in my 20gl long sump/refugium and was wondering how much room I should leave for a protein skimmer. What is the average foot size of a quality skimmer. of the 29 1/2 inches I have divided it out as follows..

Over flow from tank and skimmer area 6 inches x 12
Refugim 14 inches x 12
3 baffles taking up 3 inches x 12
Return pump area 6 1/2 inches x 12

GE Silicone II

GE Silicone II

I want to use GE Silicone II 100% silicone Sealant, is this ok?

No. Last I checked, GE Silicone II contains mildecides that are useful in killing mold. That is why GE Silcone II is intended for use in bathrooms. Use GE Silicone I or All-Glass Aquarium brand sealant. People who have use GE I and All-Glass, say that the All-Glass brand holds better.

Last time someone asked about GE Silicone II, I could've sworn that someone said that there was a version of GE II that didn't have the mildecides in it. Did you already buy the GE II ? If so, then I'm curious to know what the label says...

BTW: Rod's Reef typically has tubes of All-Glass brand silicone at the shop and it's always worth the drive, IMO.

ge I windows/doors there are two types one with and without mildesides
i've used it for years to build and to modify tanks never had any issues with it,but just like any silicone used in a tank make sure that old silicone is removed and glass is clean no finger prints or dust
but for baffles in a fuge it worked fine for me, i just need to neater but everyone had different exp. with everything

So are you saying that you've used a version of GE II that doesn't contain mildecides?......or are you saying that you use GE I ?

What I'm trying to find out is if there is a GE I, GE II with mildecides, and a GE II without mildecides. I know the first 2 exist, but the 3rd one is what I am curious about.

i have used GE I AND GE II both with no mildesides or biosides as they have on the lable GE II was bought by pure accident did not realize until i had to use it which probly like 4 months later not sure if it was medards but i know home depot does not have the GEII without biocides only with,
but GEI is just as good better if you can get 100% silicone that holds glass thats what you look for on the lable 10 rating for glass bonding

Menards sells aquariums sealant. but only is small tubes, which for you shouldnt be a problem.

Just look at the tube it will say if it has mildecides in it. If it says it's 100% silicone then it can't have mildecides in it. Then it would be 99.99999% silicone or whatever.
