====================================
Material:
American Douglas Metals in Orlando
Width: 11.683
Length: 1300'
Specs: Coated Anodized highly reflective - .016 thick rolled aluminum reflectivity of 85% or higher.
Pricing: At this time 2.15/FT - We are working on getting a better price - MUCH better.
=======================================
I have two other leads for the larger pieces and will see prices later this week - for the smaller reflectors the material above is a steal and will fit the pattern with just a little modifications. Poknsnok will be looking into getting us a sample this week.
=======================================
Aquatictec has the material at 7.00$/sq FT + Shipping. For some reason they will only ship truck after 24 x 24. So they are out because of shipment. I have things shipped all the time that are 24 x 48 and I ship FedEx - not sure what that's about? We could still go with them if the American Douglas material/My other leads fall through. We can stay with the 24 X ? length and see what the shipping cost would be.
========================================
Other places - to costly in shipment

Great I'll put you down as a positive. Joe is working on getting a great deal on the reflective material. I'm hoping it works out but we really need to look at it before saying yes. I might have to drive over in the TRUCK to pick it up in Orlando - but it will be worth it (I hope).

Oh - I was checking my notes and poknsnok wants to build 3 - not 2. Sorry about that poknsnok.

I need three for my main tank, 1 for the refugium (14") and possibly one for the QT - not sure about that one yet.

Oh - that would be great Mike. Once I get a good feel for the number we'll be building I'll see how many total feet we will need. The roll right now is I think 1300' - that's a lot of reflectors. Joe's going to check to see if it can be cut - we'll see.

VINH_XUAN I agree with WarDaddy.

I'm also thinking about coming up with a 12 inch design - why not?

I think with our first build we'll have the following sizes:

14"
16"
18"
23" (They didn't have large enough paper to make the 24" - I can get it printed if the need is there).

For future designs and Club builds - if this material is as good as it appears:
T5
VHO
Smaller MH (12" and under)

Is there a possibility that you all would make a few extras if someone was not there :) I dont live anywhere near you but would love to get in on this, of course I would pay for everything and extra for time and trouble. If you all are interested please let me know. My tank size is as follows; 18 wide, 20 deep. I would like 3 of them for 250 watt bulbs.

Thanks,
Eric

I think we need to limit this to Club Members and people that are able to attend, more or less.

As it is, we have a lot to make, and a short time to do it.

I'll answer this one. This is a TBRC project. Nothing personal. Accepting money and shipping constitutes commerce. We're not involved in that.

Hey Joey - will do. I hope it doesn't rain :). I have a large garage and studio inside my house, we should have plenty of room.

I agree with everyone. This is a club build, I opened it up a little for local non-members but this in the future will be one of the big perks of being a member.

We have plans for other DIY builds and will get materials at a discount that we will pass on to our TBRC members.

I know a lot of local reefers live in apartments, condo etc or just don't have the room for all the tools it takes to make some of these items. If you join our club we can do lots of DIY builds at a fraction of the cost.

Some of our dues will go to purchasing materials/tools etc, we will see our dues at work.

I would like to get in on this too. Where , and when is this going to take place ? I live in Weeki Wachee . It's a very long drive for me to go to Joe's house . , May be a car pool would work . Joe, I might have to spend the night with Rufus .

Bigt0706 - I have you down and we can talk about logistics. I know it's hard for some to drive regardless of reasons (older, younger, disabled etc). I'm not talking about not having the time - if you really want it you will make the time. I'm talking about other aspects of our lives.

I'm planning on a system to help others out and I'll be getting with you all within the next few months. We'll get this build under our belts and then move forward helping others.

I'm disabled and know the problems we are faced with - I plan on trying to eliminate some of them - if I can.

You are now on the list for (3) 14" reflectors

reefrubble - you made it in and you are the last person. We have something like 10 - 12 reefers at this time.

This build will be at my house in Largo around Highland Ave and East Bay Dr. I'll be sending everyone a PMessage next week with address and phone number.

As far as time - we have some that are driving a long distance and in the morning - a lot less traffic. I think starting at 9 is good but if anyone wants to come earlier that's fine with me. I'm a morning person so 8am is not to early.

The big thing will be having enough tools so we don't have to wait. I'll make a list of tools that will be needed and if anyone has them - bring them along.

Sweet... I can show up early, as I rise daily long before Sol, to help you with any last minute prep. OR just for a tour of your studio!
