DIYs or CC120 fixture?

So I have been planning on doing a DIY led setup/fixture and was wondering if the CC120 fixtures are comparable to a DIY setup? I'd think they are I they are usingCree LEDs as well but didnt see what type of LEDs were in the fixture. Does anyone know if they are Cree or not? It'd be similar prices between a DIY and the C 120 fixture so if they're comparable I might as well save myself some work.

The cc-120 uses bridgelux leds. Dont let that scare you off. I've seen the numbers Cree might get you a 10% increase in par but what good is that going to do if you're dimming your leds down to like 75% anyway? Also they just came out with a new model with a built in controller and moonlights so you can ramp up and ramp down to simulate sunrise and sunset. I myself just bought 3 of the new fixtures for my 125build I'm starting.

The CC-120 is an excellent and very polished fixture. I would go with it based on the fact that DIY looks like crap. If you want to check mine out, you are welcome to stop by.

I was looking at the new model and like it I've just always heard that the difference between Cree and bridgelux is significant but I have very little experience with LEDs. I've been to CC's place and seen them in person and have liked what I saw and since its practically the same price for the DIY setup I was planning I might as well go with the fixture.

Bigkev have you ever swapped out LEDs in te fixture. The one thing I liked about the solderless DIY setup was the ease of swapping out LEDs to change around the color spectrum is that something easily done with this fixture?

You look like crap, lol...you ever see Cet's fixture?! That makes the CC look like crap!

OP, which size tank again would this be going on again?

How does this compare to the Chinese Ever Grow / Reef Breeders fixtures I keep reading about? They look very similar.

It would be for a 25 gallon cube which would be predominantly SPS. I have a 24" halide/T5 fixture but want to give LEDs a try.

I think that's a similar tank to what BigKev has his on, so you'd be fine for light. I think Jimmy lets you pick a custom spectrum if need be too, so that might be the best route. I'm a DIY'er so, I still lean towards my way ;)
