Got a free maxima, worried about it transporting AEFW's, FW's, and or monti eating nudi's into my tank.

Any suggestions???

well, I used to have a 55g w/ some clams and the tank was majorly infested w/ fw's. so, I guess technically, it could have some FW's somewhere on it. I've bought many clams online and I can personally say I've never "gotten" anything from a clam before though

Normally all you need to worry about with clams is Pyramid Snails. They eat clams. You need to check the underside where the soft white fleshy tissue is. You will see them if they are there. THey are white as well and have a cone shell. OTher than that you shouldnt have anything else hidint on the clam. You can see the whole outside shell and what not. There wont, well there shouldnt be anything indie the clam.

I had those in my 180. They are supposed to be host specific, but they have jumped to astrea snails. They only ride there, they don't seem to be killing the snails. So I don't think it's safe just yet to add another clam even after 9 months or so of being clam free.

2nd, I got this clam for free. I did notice the tank it came out of had some FW's on a Monti cap. So I definitely don't want to put it in the 180 SPS tank. It's in a softie 70 gal.

Can you dip clams or treat them with FW exit, lugols, or anything else???

They can also carry Perkinsus, which will wipe them out rapidly. I thought it was mostly gone, but I saw signs of it in our last shipment of clams.
