Do foxfaces lose colour with age?

I was looking at a tank the other day with a quite big foxface in it, he was a very dull yellow colour. I was wondering if these fish dull down as they get older? There was a yellow tang in there who looked so bright in comparison.

I had originally wanted a yellow tang but then because I want to try my best to get a peaceful tank, I decided a foxface would fill the larger yellow fish role. Now I'm not so sure!

My foxface is still bright yellow. Perhaps it was lighting or nutrition. Try adding different kinds of macro algae to his diet. Is it a one spot foxface or the pure yellow one?
Yellow tangs are generally peaceful with fish that are large or if the yellow tang is added last. I have a foxface, yellow tang, blue jaw trigger(f), a single Clarkii clown, firefish, and a ton of inverts. Has never bothered anything. Added the foxface and trigger after with no issue. Look into a yellow wrasse if you want something "yellow." They are pretty neat. Usually won't bother inverts or coral. Need a sandbed though. Wrasse might get aggressive if you have other wrasses.

Thank for your advice, I did wonder if it might be diet, the tank it was in didn't look that well cared for. It was a pure yellow one.

It's good to hear about your yellow tang being peaceful, how long have you had it for?
