Do I chance it?

This last weekend my friend calls up and says she is shutting down her tank. She asked if I would take her fish. In the lot of fish is a Flame Hawkfish. Now I have read a lot about this fish and one thing that scares me is that they may eat snails and or crabs and maybe also shrimp. Does anyone have any experience with this fish and could you please share.

it's not that they MAY eat your snails or shrimp, it will definitely eat your ornamental shrimp and it could go after your snails. They're awesome fish with great personality but if you're at the least bit concerned, don't take it.

completely agree it mite grab a shrimp but if your worried i would not go for it..... or ask your buddy about its behavior in her tank

I agree 100% about the shrimp. They will constantly hide and eventually become a meal.

trade it in to a LFS for something you really want & tell her it died, lol

they will eat shrimp BUT they are very interesting and personable fish.
