Do I have ich again?! or is it something else?

I recently added a blue green chromis who has been in QT for about a month, well during the qt, I saw no signs of ich at all, but it had a white fuzzy-ish thing on its fin. It was there the whole time and not getting worse. I am not sure, but I think it is lympho. I know that you can't really cure it, so I tried my best to keep water clean, and pleny of food. The fish has a very healthy appetite. I moved it in yesterday into the DT. There was some territtory disputes between it and the royal gramma. Today they are keeping their distance. And just a few minutes ago I noticed a couple of white dots on the royal gramma's fin :mad2:. I was so upset because I had something like this happen before. I haven't even gotten a 4th fish in the tank yet. I am really hoping that it is just lympo. Whats your input?

No signs of ich? You can't see ich they could of been silent carriers so if you never treated them in assume they had it. I treat all my fish regardless of they show signs of ich.

Yes, ich does not have to present visibly to be present. Usually you can tell by fish behavior, however. The fuzzy stuff does sound like lymphocystis especially if it is on fins.

Even when I quarantined them they weren't scratching or any kind of unusual behavior. I'm guessing that the blue green chromis brought something in as a carrier, and affecting the royal gramma. The blue green chromis has been kept in a quarantine WITH a wild caught bangaii, who might have possibly had something as well. Fire goby looks fine. now I am stuck with a problem, I can't get all 3 small fish out in a long 80 gallon. When I did this before I had to tear down the tank. What will happen if I keep them in there, and simply just do water changes and good food? I know that the water will still have ich, but will they become sort of immune to it?

Over time the population of ich will grow as they multiply. In the end you will end up like the rest of us that had ich battles before. I would treat all fish and fallow the tank for 10 weeks. I lost my battle with ich letting them hoping they would heal or build up immunity.

You could try a fish trap if you decide to remove the fish, would be much simpler than tearing the tank down.

Yup, looks like I have to get them out. I am still worried about putting the royal gramma, blue green chormis, and fire goby in a small tank, they will end up fighting. Mainly the fire goby since they are shy. I will try it anyways. I have treated with hypo salinity before. I have never tried cupramine. Which is easier, and or more dependable? Also what are you preferred methods of quarantine for new fish?

So far got the trouble-making chromis out and acclimating into the quarantine. next is the gramma and fire goby. Thankfully my rockwork is pretty easy to remove. My next target is the royal gramma. Then the fire goby. I am actually getting used to these problems, and I no longer freak out at the sight of ich. I hope my better attitude about it will help me concentrate more and do things right lol.
