Do I need to QT the first fish?

Quarantine coral for 3 months? If I'm doing quarantine the fishes, so I need another QT for invertebrates? What a terrible hobby!

Can be shortened by doing TTM the invertebrates?

Honestly just worry for now about QT the fish. Coral you QT more to prevent pests that affect the coral, flatworms, nudibranch etc.

TTM only works for fish to break up the "free swimming" stage of ich.

as far as QT corals and inverts that is up to you and how much risk you can handle. It varies from person to person.

What do you think about the water that is in/out of the invertebrates and may exist parasite, bacteria ...?

For the CUC I will get some water out of the tank and swish them around in that and repeat that process a couple of times. I consider it a low risk. I only buy my CUC from Reef Cleaners and John does not deal in fish.

Perhaps I will get flamed, but I think some folks take things to the extremes for very little gain. That is their choice and nothing wrong with it. Just not my way of doing things.

I will say that when I first started I had a bumpy ride and after a year or so found Reef Central. I then went the QT everything wet route out of fear of pestilence and plague. Over time I got more comfortable after reading about the common illnesses, parasites and the such. I have since developed the protocol that I follow now and have not had any issues in my DT. Can I say I am 100% ich free, no I can't. But, I can say that I am confident that I do not have an issue with ich, velvet, brook, flatworms, redbugs or any other nasty's. Just my 2 cents worth.

That is very true in any hobby. When I first researching a sound system for my new house, I get a wide range of advice. I can spend $5K and get A or 10K for A+. I spent enough to get B+ because honestly, I old ears can't tell the different :) LOL. Of course, when it comes to corals we probably want to get A+++ because of Lasik...hahaha

Personally I consider that risk negligible. Swish in discarded tank water and in they go, if that even. It's really up to each individual how intensive they want to go with their QT. A 72+ day QT for snails to me is way overboard.
