Do I target feed clowns?

I just got a pair of ocellaris clowns (although one is injured and doesn't look too good :( ). I got some frozen Formula One, mysis, and brine shrimp, which is what the LFS fed them. They're my first tank inhabitants (other than snails), and I'm a complete noob, so I'm wondering if I should turn off my pumps and target feed them the F1 with a turkey baster or whether it's better to simply toss the food into the tank and let them chase after it.

Thanks!

Sam, when I tried that this morning the food just sank to the bottom of the aquarium. Will the clowns bottom-feed the food, or do they like to snatch it out of the water column?

give them time they will eat i would take some brine shrimp and start with that brine shrimp works great for new fish KENT also makes a garlic concentrate that works great for new fish i use it all the time just put a couple drops on the brine and the fish will go crazy they will eat

do a majority of u turn off the powerheads when you feed?

I hafta squirt food at my clown.. she wont leave the bta area lol

I have a Tunze on a controller...push a button & it shuts off for about 10 minutes. I keep my return pump on
My clowns do not venture far from their anemone

marilynrn711, I returned the injured one to the LFS and exchanged it for a (hopefully) healthier one. They saw the injury and agree that it was caused by a fight with another fish. They also said that its right eye looked infected. Since I have no other fish and these 2 clowns were getting along, the fight must have happened at the LFS. I'll start acclimating my new clown this evening, after I do a water change.

Thanks for your advice, everyone! I got my clowns some frozen brine shrimp and some mysis shrimp to mix up with the F1. Now all I need to know is how much to feed the 2 little buggers??? :D

No, I mean how much per feeding? One cube per fish? I guess I'll feed them a tiny bit and give them more if they don't eat it all, and continue until they're full.

Im a newb myself

Have a pair of gold striped maroons hosting in a serbae

i dont turn off my powerhead.

Initially i would feed right above the clowns since they would not know where to look in a 150 gallon.

But as time went on they became more and more confident and now i just break up food near a powerhead which spreads it nicely all over the tank.

They actually love chasing food and are pretty quick to snatch off the chromis. Apart from that they wont venture out of the anemone unless its to muscle up to the chromis that stray too close :P

Its mainly marine dinner, brine shrimp and krill. They are actually the least pesky eaters will eat almost anything. Just a matter of confidence.

Hope that helps
