Not sure but mine runs hot to touch. You cant keep your hand on it for more then 3-5 secs, been like this for 2 years. I make sure nothing is touching it. But yes I assume that is what it means.
The problem with hot pumps is calcification inside the pump housing and excessive wear to the motor. Put a fan on it... I've zip tied heat sinks with thermal past to the outiside of little giants :lol:

I used something like this, hit them with a propane torch, and bent them around a pipe that was the same diameter of the motor. I did it with 8 of them. Worked like a charm.
I have an old Little Giant I keep around just for back-up. I replaced it as my recirc pump because it started to run hot even after being cleaned and oiled. It has over-heat protection and would shut off until it cooled.
