Do MH Ballasts Require a Heat Sink?

Hey folks! I recently purchased a 250W Icecap electronic MH ballast, just bare bones. Do I need a heat sink for this, or can I mount it on the stand somewhere, leaving some room for heat circulation?

I use heat sink on mine i have three 250 Waters they run much cooler with the heat sink . I made my own with metal from HD.

What I was thinking of doing was mounting the ballast underneath my stand with a couple of smaller pieces of wood as spacers. From what you all have said so far, it sounds like this might be do-able, especially since the stand has ventilation through the back. If worse comes to worse I can always run a small fan underneath.
